You don't like to see any competitor come down with a serious injury. However, can you really feel bad for Boston or the Patriots? I mean how many championships have they won recently?
Red Sox, Celtics, and yeah I know the Patriots lost last year but they still won 3 this decade. So it is not really devastating that the Patriots are going to have to work a little harder to get to the Super Bowl this year.
Now on the other hand, if CC Sabathia gets injured for the Brewers in the last month of the season before the playoffs, that's sad. The Brewers haven't gone to the playoffs since 1982 and they just traded decent prospects (Indians fans hope at least) for a man that could potentially win the CY Young in a league he's only spent half a season in. If he goes down there's chances of going far in the playoffs diminished substantially. Also, who knows if he's coming back so this could be a one shot deal for the Brew Crew.
So do only perennial losers get sympathy from me? No. But teams and cities that win championships every year should I really be sad if the team shop doesn't have championship t-shirts for a season.
Get over it!
